
Seminars organized as part of Indian Library Congress have started. The first seminar on ‘Secularism and Life’ was held at Koodali Higher Secondary School by renowned orator and author Dr. Sunil P Ilayidam inaugurated the event. About 1500 seminars are organized in different parts of the district.
Sunil P Ilayidam said that libraries are the driving forces of social transformation in Kerala. More than just book distribution centers and reading centers for newspapers and magazines, they function as centers of wider social organization. He said that the view that libraries are the power to intervene and transform the social life of the country had grown in the pre-independence era.
Koodali Panchayat President PK Shaima presided the event. Kannur University Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Sabu Abdul Hameed delivered the keynote address. Dr. V Sivadasan MP, District Panchayat Standing Committee President VK Suresh Babu, Block Panchayat Standing Committee President M Ratheesh, EPR Veshala, Pavithran Mokeri, P Karunakaran, PK Vijayan, E Sajeevan and P Prasad spoke. Seminar Committee Convenor Mukundan Madathil welcomed all.
