Kannur : The tourism workshop held in Kannur was decided to strengthen efforts to bring innovative ways to market the potential of Kannur district in the field of tourism. Experts in the field of tourism and representatives of institutions and organizations participated in the workshop held at the Kannur University Student Center as part of the Indian Library Congress. An action plan was also designed to introduce the extensive tourism possibilities of the district to those from within and outside the state who are coming to the Library Congress. As part of this, apart from the tourist centers in the district, a network will be formed to introduce farm tourism centers, traditional art centers, best libraries, caves, places of worship etc.
On November 4, 2022, at 11 am, Minister of Tourism, Public Works, PA Muhammad Riaz inaugurated the workshop. Indian Library Congress Organizing Committee Chairman and MP Dr. V. Sivadasan presided over the ceremony. Kannur District Collector S. Chandrasekhar IAS was the chief guest. Subject presentation was made by Tourism Deputy Director Shine and Suraj K.P. Welcome speech was done by DTPC Secretary Jithesh and Haritha Kerala Mission District Coordinator E.K. Somasekharan thanked all. Representatives of District tourism cooperative institutions, tour operators, travel agents, tourist guides, farm tourism, home stays, etc. participated in the event.
Also at the ceremony, the chairman of Indian Library Congress Organizing Committee M.P V Shivadasan received the check of Rs.1 lakh given by Kerala Dinesh Sangam to People’s Network Mission to Establish and to strengthen the established libraries in backward areas.
