The second edition of Indian Library Congress , which is being conducted under the leadership of honourable member of Rajya Sabha Dr L Hanumanthaiah, is expected to be a platform for intense deliberations to shape ideas for the sustainable and inclusive development of libraries in India as empowering, democratic and inclusive public spaces. There is a need to learn from the global and local experiences. A knowledge economy is emerging and libraries need to emerge as spaces of collective learning. The Indian Library Congress will strengthen the movement to establish libraries benefiting the marginalized and deprived sections and regions. Libraries should respond to the disruptions brought in by the advancement in technology and should function as innovators and leaders by making technologies accessible to the common people. Indian Library Congress will assess these multifaceted developments, learn from them, and formulate a better strategy towards the creation of libraries as engaging and emancipatory spaces.
The first Indian Library Congress was held at Kannur University on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of January 2023 under the leadership honourable member of Rajya Sabha Dr V Sivadasan and was coordinated by Peoples Mission for Social Development
